A sexy drawing for this month’s art feature. As soon as I first saw the picture of this nearly naked, pencil drawn girl, I loved it. In fact, I immediately told the artist I wanted to have it. I like how it’s a black and white piece, because that creates a bit of a mysterious atmosphere and it leaves more to the viewer’s imagination.
Every time I look at this drawing, I wonder what the girl in the picture is up to. Did she just come back from work, sweaty and longing for a nice hot shower? Or is she ready for bed, tired and getting undressed before sliding under the crisp, white sheets? Or is there perhaps a slightly more naughty ending to this story?
The answer of course depends on your personal interpretation, so anything is possible. And that’s exactly what I think art should do. It should show you something – a photograph, painting or sculpture for example – without any explanation. As a member of the audience, you simply look at it, think about it and imagine your version of the story behind it.
