This weekend, try something different and go to Canary Wharf. There is something strangely calming about wandering the almost empty streets in between those big, tall buildings. I know, it might not seem the most obvious option to spend your free Saturday or Sunday, but there are plenty of cool things to do!
For starters, there is an ice rink at the moment (until February the 25th), which is the perfect way to get into that festive holiday season mood. And if you’re not that into twisting and twirling on ice skates, you can watch the people who are, while you enjoy a glass of mulled wine.
All that physical exercise – active or passive – is bound to make you hungry, so walk over to West India Quay for some street food afterwards. And then, if you’re up for it, go and get your weekly dose of culture at the Museum of London Docklands (yep, it’s situated on the Quay too).
There are plenty of options for the evening as well: you can enjoy a nice meal in one of the many Quay restaurants, or go for a chilled out end of the day and watch that movie you’ve been wanting to see for ages at the local cineworld.
So although Canary Wharf is probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you think about what to do this weekend, it really is a good option if you want something different for a change. Happy weekend!
